Helltown
Provincetown
A Tasty Tradition
338 Commercial Street,
Provincetown
At the turn of the 19th century, Provincetown was
nicknamed Helltown due to its reputation for gambling,
smuggling and carousing. Inspired by the town’s wild
history, owner and designer Stephen Hooper created
his shop as a creative outlet — crafting candles,
notebooks, tees, cards, jewelry and paperweights. After
working in fashion for decades in New York, Hooper
moved to Provincetown in 2015 to operate Carpe Diem
Guesthouse & Spa with his partner, honoring his creative
spirit with both projects.
